Home & Away
‘Plane Crash’ (1995). Angel’s lost in the bush after
surviving a plane crash. Alf organises a search party, but they’re looking in
the wrong area! Shane acts on a hunch. It’s not a very good episode. Marilyn is
a star.
‘Bushfire and Car Crash’ (1995). This is a good episode! Jack’s
in the passenger seat when some hooligan crashes a car and starts a bushfire.
Hooligan flees and Nelson happens across Jack trapped inside the burning car.
Despite having just told Irene he’s about to break up with Sally because he feels
bad about being a wuss, Nelson rescues Jack and gets badly burnt. Jack feels
really bad and I felt sorry for him when the policeman made him cry. Sally’s
really cut with Jack about Nelson being hurt too. Volunteers from Yabbie Creek
and Mangrove Valley fight together to stop it, but the bushfire is way outta
control and the Bay is in danger! Against his better judgement, Fisher rushes
to the school office to grab his things. Will he survive? Irene makes
sandwiches for everyone at the Diner.
‘Bomb Blast’ (1996). Alex and Shannon find a shed of old
discarded explosives from the war. Before they know it, Sam’s in there mucking
about and sets off a grenade. Alex is blinded. Curtis is gearing up for a surf
comp. While Selina’s falling for Jesse, Chloe tells her she could do a little
bit better than an unemployed car thief. Selina gets ticked off about that.
‘Cyclone Raymond Part 1’ (1997). Poor Justine takes off in a
dinghy after being harassed and belittled by the judgemental townsfolk. Little
did she know Cyclone Raymond was on the way! The rest of the locals gather in
panic at the school, but where’s Irene? Jesse calls Stephen a gutless coward. Ian
pulls Justine’s body from the sea.
‘Cyclone Raymond Part 2’ (1997). Fisher writes about the
cyclone in his journal. It starts off, “The cyclone hit Summer Bay around 9pm.
So far everyone remains calm and the school building remains undamaged, thank
God.” but then gets a bit weird when he starts passing judgement on all the
locals. As usual, Summer Bay survives the disaster with few casualties but
Yabbie Creek isn’t so lucky. Selina growls at Irene for scaring her and Chloe
and Joey. Justine has a new attitude since her near death experience. Marilyn
too feels like Cyclone Raymond has blown her worries away. Jesse organises a
stripper for Stephen’s buck’s night to land him in trouble with Selina. Paul
Kelly’s Tease Me plays on the boom box while the stripper strips.
‘Ailsa Held at Gunpoint’ (1998). A hobo wakes on the beach
and looks at the pistol in his backpack before heading to the surf club for a
cooked breakfast. He offers to do the dishes since he’s unable to pay for the
meal, but Ailsa threatens to call the police. Things go south. Sally is shot. I
forgot how annoying the Nash family are. Especially Joel.
‘Travis Rescues Gypsy’ (1999). Robert sets fire to the Nash
house then takes Natalie captive. Alf rants about zero tolerance. He says “If
you let kids get away with graffitiing your walls, the next thing you know
they’re going to be invading your house with a meat cleaver looking for drug
money”. It’s a terrible episode. I’m not going to watch anymore.
